Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her debut EP Pho, released was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released by Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn notoriety. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012 when she launched her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. The singer continued uploading her tracks online through 2014 and released her own single Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to create Rihanna references. It was announced on December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. On the 21st of October in 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. She also appeared in 2018 on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video later released in September. She released her second single, Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she dropped two more singles, titled No One as well as Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019 for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole in her Creed II sound track on November 16. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was made available for the track. The track has received nearly three million hits on YouTube within the initial week. As a support act she performed with 6LACK in December of 2018 for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
